Geocache Description:

This is part of a world-wide multi-event. We'll be participating in the multi-event 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. near downtown Monterey.

Fat Tuesday

“Mardi Gras” means “Fat Tuesday.” Traditionally, it is the last day for Catholics to indulge — and often overindulge — before Ash Wednesday starts the sober weeks of fasting that come with Lent. Formally known as Shrove Tuesday, Mardi Gras has long been a time of extravagant fun for European Christians!

The Event

The theme for this event is “Mardi Gras” — so bring your feathered masks and shiny beads! Alcohol is served in the venue, but we trust that adults will drink responsibly so that a family-friendly atmosphere will be maintained for those who wish to bring the mini-cachers along. Mystic Krewe of Monterey Bay is participating in the multi-event geocoin. However Mystic Krewe of Monterey Bay has been cautioned that including any additional information here would run afoul of “the rules.” So, if you're curious about the multi-event geocoin then you'll need to seek details elsewhere.

The Venue

The venue is a popular destination for tasty pizza and select Italian fare. Please be sure to R.S.V.P. (log your “will attend”) so we'll be able to help the venue best prepare for our festivities.

Door prizes, activities and party favors

There will be various geocaching-related door prizes. The first forty cachers to log “will attend” will also get a shiny collectible token commissioned especially for this occasion by Mystic Krewe of Monterey Bay (available for pick up at the event only). Mardi Gras revelers will of course want to sign the official log to mark the occasion — if they can find it!

Multi-event Geocoin

Mystic Krewe of Monterey Bay has commissioned a local version of this year's Mardi Gras multi-event geocoin. These special geocoins are trackable at geocaching.com and will be available at the event. The tiled background image is the color map for the geocoin. Contact Mystic Krewe of Monterey Bay for details.
