Geocache Description:

A road side cache. I found this interesting marker while making a "bathroom stop" in the woods on the way back from a Vt. ski trip. E-mail me the inscription on the marker for credit (please don't put it in your log entry, even if encrypted).

For safety's sake, don't park on the shoulder. There is a parking area a few hundred yards to the west of the cache site, on the opposite side of the road.

Since I posted this cache, several geocachers have come forth with additional information about the story behind this marker. Here's what I found out (thanks to Dweezil):

The victim, a flamboyant and popular Bennington taxi driver, was murdered along Route 7 near the Stone School House. His murderers were not caught until 1936. Harry Pincus and William Franco were arrested, convicted and sentenced. A woman, Jean Mack, was also arrested and charged. She turned state evidence and was not prosecuted.
