A very urban cache, in a "mini" container that has a small log book and pencil. Be prepared; Urban means it will be busy in the area. Wait for a break in the traffic, or just act like you own the place and few people will bother even noticing you. I will keep an eye on this one, so if it happens to be taken by a Geo-Muggle, I'll replace it quickly.
In February 2002, the LEO newspaper published a list of things a person might say or do that would brand them as being from Louisville. Readers sent in the items, and a recurring theme was "giving directions based on things that aren't there anymore or names that have changed, but your directions never confuse any of the other Louisvillians (Example: "Turn where the White Castle was on Eastern Parkway; down the street from the old Sears; take the Jefferson Freeway, etc.)". This is the fifth in a series of caches located at such directional landmarks that aren't there. This one proves that you don't have to be old, or even be a Louisvillian for a long time to see the beginning of a directional spot that isn't there. I noticed this location being used in an ad for a nearby fast food restaurant. Then, when Ashley's Furniture opened, its grand opening ad described the location as the old Sam's Building. That's good enough for me. A new Louisville tradition begins!
