This
cache is rated a 4.5 in terrain and in difficulty because it
is summer in Las Vegas and it is a multi cache with many
legs. You will be climbing up and down hills and rocky
outcrops. There will be little if any shade. You should plan
a full day for this one.
Take plenty of WATER !! We suggest you take no less
than 1.5 to 2 gallons per person. If you are not familiar
with hiking in the Las Vegas summer heat, don’t attempt this
cache. This cache is NOT pet or children friendly. You should
not go alone. You should tell someone where you are
going.
Remember: Take plenty of WATER !!
To get to this cache you will need
to make your way to the above coordinates. The easiest way is
to drive to mile 22.5 on Las Vegas Blvd. South. At about
N35º 53.117 W115º 13.455 you will
see a dirt road headed east. You need to follow the road
until you get to a road that heads up a
hill.
Near the bottom of the hill at
about N35º 52.885 W115º 13.013
there is a wide flat area where you can park if you do not
have a high clearance vehicle. If you have a high clearance
you can drive up that road, otherwise you need to hike
it.
The road will come to a flat area
at about N35º 52.869 W115º 12.877
where you can park if you don’t have 4X4. If you have 4X4 you
can drive the VERY rough and rocky road to the closest
parking area to the
cache.
This parking area is at
N35º 52.945 W115º 12.779 and we
strongly recommend everyone, either driving or hiking, make
their way to these coordinates. From here you will see a wash
on the west side. You will need to hike up this wash to the
coordinates listed for this cache. This is the first
leg.
After you find the first clue you
can head for the second clue. This trek should tell you if
you are prepared for the entire journey. (You have only just
begun!)
You will be making your way from
clue to clue looking for hidden Altoids tins. In each tin are
the coordinates to the next leg. There are nine legs to this
cache. Below are hints to help you at each
leg:
- BLACK-
Find a two headed yucca plant in the wash. The first clue is
a black tin hidden in the Y of the plant and covered with a
rock. Be careful, don’t get stuck by the lower leaves of the
plant.
- WINTERGREEN - Find the tin in a cairn that
has a wood stake in
it.
- RED -
Look for the tin in a cubby hole - not the big hole, but
close and to the
left
- CINNAMON - Look behind 3 rocks, about 12”
long leaning against another
rock.
- APPLE
- Look in a
cairn.
- CITRUS
- Look in a rock
igloo.
- DILBERT - Look behind a small rock in the
roots of a Yucca
plant.
- ZINGO
- Find the rock igloo on a rocky
outcropping.
- NGNG -
Well hidden in the rocks a bit
east.

Frog
Every
geocacher who finds this cache between it's posting and midnight
August 18th 2004 will be entered into a drawing for the Giant Green

- Find the cache and each of it's
legs.
- You MUST post an identifiable
picture of yourself at each leg of the cache including the

not what’s written inside the
tin.)
- Everyone who finds the cache and
logs the proper pictures can enter, but each person MUST have
their own Geocaching name. (For example, if the finder is a
two person team and both want to be entered in the drawing,
each MUST have their own Geocaching name and log the find
separately.)
- All logs must have the correct
pictures and be posted by midnight on the night of August
18th
2004.
- All eligible finders will have
their name entered into the drawing and one Geocacher name
