This cache has been archived.

SammyClaws: Sorry to have to archive this one, but after checking the area several times this summer, it looks like spot is a favorite of the neighborhood kids. I pulled the remains this weekend.

Geocache Description:

In the olden days, a real three lock box was a chest that The Queen would use when traveling by ship. They would put her most valuable belongings in a box that had three locks and three people had a key so no one person could open it by themselves. If you were a pirate and you found a "Three Lock Box," you’d know this one had good swag.

The cache container is a locked ammo box. The twist is it does not have 3 locks on it, but rather there are three keys hidden within the standard deviation of a GPS (with my GPS, this seems to be about 25’). Each key is in a container that is bigger than a film canister – it will be interesting to see how many people remember that. Also each key has a red pipe cleaner tied to it to aid in its recovery should you drop it. Please make sure when putting the key back that the pipe cleaner isn’t showing. One of the three keys opens the lock on the ammo box, the other two do not. However, to keep this puzzle interesting, I plan to rotate the locks at random times. All of the key containers are at least 8 inches off the ground, so this cache is fairly snow friendly.

Initially, I do not plan on offering any hints but may change that depending on how things go.

Parking can be found at N42 54.305 W88 05.117 and it is less than a .3 mile walk to the cache. It’s off the path a bit, so some bushwhacking is required. This in field puzzle is supposed to be tougher, so please don’t drag small ones out here in hopes of a quick find only to get eaten by mosquitoes. However, I do hope you have as much fun hunting this one as I did creating it.
