Geocache Description:

This cache has been placed on the Waldo Cove Public Beach, just south of Baynes Lake. It is possible to drive to within a few hundred metres.

When the artificial Lake Koocanusa was first flooded in 1972 several farms and communities were left under water. One of these communities was Waldo. Prior to the flooding only a couple of the buildings were moved, the remainder were just torched where they sat. One of the buildings that was moved was the church which now sits at Baynes Lake.
Waldo Cove Beach is a little way from where the Waldo townsite proper used to be located. It is possible, during the fall takedown of the water level to still walk where Waldo once stood. For most of the year, however, it is well covered by water.
Please respect the Long-Billed Curlew nesting areas if you visit this spot. There are informational notices about this “Vulnerable” species.
The cache is in a flat Tupperware container and originally contained:- A Toy Car, A Golden Heart Pin, An IKEA Doohickey, A Whistle, A Butterfly Candle, A Copper Scottie Key Chain, A Build-Your-Own-Truck, Pad and pencils.
