Geocache Description:

Cache is located on the ridge between Bear Lake and Rualt Lake up the Wildhorse Creek drainage. This beautiful lake is stocked regularly with Westslope Cutthroat trout, which can be spin casted for from the trail that goes around the entire lake. From the parking lot it takes 1 to 1.5 hours to reach the lake and then another 45 minutes to get up to the cache site. Elevations at the parking area 6100 ft, Bear lake 7100 ft and the pass 7700 ft.

Directions to the parking area: Highway 93/95, just north of Fort Steele. Turn right( southeast) on to Wardner/Ft Steele Road. 0.5 km turn left on to Wildhorse forest service road. At 5.5 km stay right uphill at the switchback. Stay on the main road until you cross over the 19km bridge then just past the bridge turn right and go 4.6 km around 10 switchbacks before coming to the parking area at 23.6 km. The trail is well defined from the parking area and is fairly steep in a couple of sections but I have seen many folks packing small children into the lake. ( Gets the heart pumping.)
Once at the lake stay on the trail around the left side of the lake and a well defined trail leads to the pass on the Northeastern end of the lake. Once you crest at the pass enjoy the view and head along the ridge to your right.
From the pass you can see Bear and Rualt Lakes, along with Summer lake , The Empire State Peaks and Mount Rualt. You can also see into Top of The World Provincial Park.
