Geocache Description:

Fairly easy location. Not the prettiest site but a fun find. Near paved roads and requires minimal walking.

Given the age of this cache (I have been caching for 21 years and this cache was my first find) I think many people probably wonder why this cache isn't more "noteworthy." I thought I'd share a little background. This entire area looks very different than it did in 2001. There used to be an abandoned water treatment facility a few hundred yards south of here. The condos to the north, and pretty much everything you can see from here were not there. The paved road that heads south from here was dirt, and led to the water treatment facility. There have been a half a dozen different cache containers here, starting with an old ammo can, and gradually getting smaller as each successive construction project either destroyed the cache, the cache hiding spot, or both. At this point, I am just trying to keep a log going so that people who need a cache hidden this date and year for this challenge or that will have something to log. I used to have plenty of caches out there, but this is, of course, the oldest, since I adopted it from the original owner, who has not been involved in a number of years. I remember my first "micro cache", and how disappointed I was when I found it, and it seemed silly to me to even bother placing a cache in such a manner, and in such a place. While "micros" are still not my thing, they do have their place, and I think this is an appropriate place. I thought about hiding this newest container in the drain pipe being stored here, but figured that probably has spiders in it, and it would be easy for children to get hurt around it. Also, who knows when the entity that left that there is going to come haul it away? So this is what we have for now. I hope you can enjoy finding a cache that has been around as long as this one, even if it's not what it used to be.

Bunkerdave (me) adopted this cache in May 2004..it was the first cache I ever found, so I wanted to keep it going.
Original posting: This cache is in a 50 caliber ammo can. It contains some trinkets from my hometown and work. These include a ballcap, Pleasant Grove wood plaque, key chains, travel alarm clocks and coupons for root beer.
