Geocache Description:


This Series is winter friendly and can be accessed year round. The Council Grounds State Park in Merrill is one of the nicest places in the area to walk and relax. Dogs are welcome, but MUST be on a leash at all times.
In each of the Caches 1-7 you will find a letter=number clue, be sure to have a pen and paper to write them down. You need to plug in the appropriate numbers where the corresponding letters are located below.

Council Grounds is a park with something for almost everyone. This 508-acre park along the Wisconsin River in north-central Wisconsin hosts a variety of activities and sights year round. It's in Wisconsin's Forest Transition Ecological Landscape. A 21-acre area of old-growth forest in the park is designated as Krueger Pines State Natural Area.
Boating, fishing, swimming, and waterskiing are popular here. The Friends of Council Grounds State Park rents canoes.
The 217-foot beach has an expansive sunning area and picnic area. The best time for swimming is mid-June through mid-August. Lifeguards are not provided. The park has numerous shore fishing opportunities
A vehicle admission sticker is required on all motor vehicles stopping in state parks and recreation get to the park or in advance. You can buy either an annual sticker, for admission to all state parks and forests for the calendar year, or a daily sticker, valid only on the date of issue. If you have only a little time to visit, you can buy a one-hour sticker at most state parks and forests. Any vehicle licensed for road use that is towed or carried into a state park fee area is provided free admissionareas. Some state forest and trail parking areas also require a sticker.
Deer hunting is allowed in the fall by special permit only. The park’s deer management unit is 52A.
