Geocache Description:

What a wonderful hike and even more wonderful view from one of the high points in Douglas County. An easy 3-mile round trip on a jeep road that the public lands sign says "no motor vehicles." If Aunt Jane can walk that far she should have absoluetly no problem in making the trip. The hike starts at N 47.29.515 W 120.02.080 at an elevation of 3250 feet on the shoulder of the Rock Island Grade Road (also Sheehan Road). Topozone lists the summit of Moses Stool at 3619 feet. Be sure to take plenty of water. This simply a glorious hike under "The Big Skies of Washington."

Range Land GCVPEY is in the same neighborhood. Give it a try!

Palisade Peak GCN1C0 appears to be an additional three miles down the ridge.

HISTORY: Chief Moses was was chief of a tribe the that ranged throughout the Columbia Basin from Waterville to the White Bluffs on the Columbia River. The City of Moses Lake, Moses Coulee as well as Moses Stool bear his name.

Webster also says of Stool: ...a seat used as a symbol of office or authority; also: the rank, dignity, office, or rule of a chieftan.
