Parkinson Building Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dalesman: This cache has been disabled for some time and as the owner has not repaired it I am archiving it.
Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."
If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

Many thanks,
Geocache Description:

Parkinson Building, University of Leeds.

The cache is a black, magnetic microcache about 15mm long with tiny log and is concealed to avoid accidental (or intentional) dislodging. Bring your own writing implements. Please replace as found.

This microcache is the first of a number of caches to be placed as part of an art project called Geo Art Cache (GAC) which is currently under development and due to go live in Yorkshire, England in May 2011.

This cache has been hidden to co-incide with the 2011 International Contemporary Artists Book Fair on the 11th and 12th March in Parkinson Court, Parkinson Building, University of Leeds. If you visit on these dates be sure to visit the fair where amongst all the other displays will be further information about GAC and the section of it called 'Where Spheres Intersect' that I am implementing.

The rest of GAC/WSI will take place in the Dales and Wolds of Yorkshire.

The location might be busy but there are plenty of people loitering suspiciously!

"The Parkinson Building was officially opened in 1951, commissioned by Frank Parkinson, a wealthy benefactor who died five years before the building was opened. Parkinson, who was born in Guiseley in 1887, studied electrical engineering at the university before working for a local firm and subsequently leading his own gas lamps company, Crompton Parkinson. Looking at the building and its tower today - which is visible from miles around - it certainly does him proud." From (visit link)
