Friday Night Activities

Group campers may sign-in and start setting up their tents at 3:00 PM. If you wish to camp in the WGA reserved group campsites, you must preregister and pay camping fees. See the "Camping Information" section below for details.

Friday night the WGA will sponsor a night geocaching contest. We are looking for individuals (maximum of 10) to hide night caches for this contest. Prizes will be awarded based on a "survey" those participating in the night caching will be asked to fill out. (Prizes and prize criteria to be determined by the Campout Committee.) Contact the WGA if you are interested in hiding a night cache.

Night caching will begin Friday at 8:00 PM (dusk) starting from the Beach Shelter East #3 (N42° 37.692' W088° 07.919'). Night caching must be completed by 10:30 PM to ensure that everyone abides by the park's established quiet time.

Saturday Day Activities

Saturday daytime activities will begin at 8:30 AM at the Beach Shelter East #3 (N42° 37.692' W088° 07.919'). Registration for Saturday activities will be available from 8:30 AM until 1:00 PM. All participants must register at the shelter before seeking caches. At that time you will receive a booklet with event information, a map of all geocaches in the park, and the coordinates of newly published geocaches. We will have cables and laptops for downloading cache waypoints to your GPSr.

Family nature scavenger hunt activity and collection bag will be handed out at registration. Kids and their families can try to find the items throughout the day on Saturday and turn in their sheets at 4:30 at the pavilion. All participants who turn in a sheet will win a prize.

We will also start passing out the geocacher "social" bingo cards on Saturday morning. If you did not play this game at past WGA events, here's the scoop. Printed in the squares of each geocacher bingo card are various attributes that might apply to a particular geocacher or geocaching team, such as "Owns A Garmin" or "Caches With A Dog". Your goal is to find people at the event who have these attributes and can sign the squares on your card. Getting five signed squares in a row gives you a bingo.

There will be 2 family arts and crafts projects. One at 11am and the other at 4:30pm. Kids bring your parents along for the fun!

If you would like to grill your lunch or dinner on Saturday, we will provide hot charcoal grills ready at noon and 5:30 PM. Please make your way back to the shelter no later than 5:00 PM Saturday. A group photo will be taken promptly at 5:00 PM, immediately followed by some brief announcements.

Saturday Night Activities

At 7:00 PM, the WGA will conduct a general membership meeting. Any WGA member is allowed to ask questions or bring up concerns during this meeting, and the WGA Board members present will do their best to answer or address them. This meeting will have a hard stop time of 8:30pm (no official discussions or decisions will be made, and no minutes will be taken after this time).

Quiet time is 11:00 PM. The DNR requires campers to be on their sites by this time, and that campers are quiet. Non-campers must be out of the park by 11:00 PM.

Sunday Pancake Breakfast

The WGA is sponsoring a pancake breakfast at the Beach Shelter East #3 (N42° 37.692' W088° 07.919') Sunday morning from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM. The menu will include pancakes, sausage, coffee, juice, and milk. Cost is $5 for adults (13 years and older), $3 for children 6-12, and free for children under 6. Breakfast fees will be collected on Sunday morning (no advance payment required).

Guess how many candies are in the jars for a chance to win the jar. Winners announced at 10am during the pancake breakfast. Must be present to win.

Camping Information

The WGA has reserved two large group campsites at the park, sites D and F. We can accommodate approximately 80 to 100 people or 30 tents on these sites. These are open, grassy sites for tent camping only. Toilets and water are nearby; there is no electricity. The WGA will provide wood for campfires at both sites during the weekend.

If you wish to camp in the group campsites, you need to preregister on the WGA website. Space is limited and the sites expected to fill up quickly, so register early. To help defray the WGA's costs, you must also prepay camping fees of $4 per adult (over 18) per night. These fees are not refundable. (Visit the WGA Store to pay camping fees.)

Geo-Campout Shirts

The WGA will again be selling shirts (t-shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies) with a Geo-Campout logo on them. Click here to visit the WGA store to order yours!

Wanted: Shirt Logo Ideas! The WGA is currently asking members to submit ideas for a Geo-Campout related logo to print on the front of the shirts. View this forum topic for the details.
