A standard size ammo can placed up on the top of Shafer Butte.
The hike or bike up, following the dirt road, is about 2 miles. It will be shorter if you hike straight up, possibly following some of the ski runs. Elevation change from the picnic area to the cache is 869'. Although the distance from the Bogus Basin Resort is about the same, we recommend starting from the picnic area up above. There is a $4 fee to park up at the picnic area. This cache will not be accessible in winter!
