Warning

Please note: To use the services of geocaching.com, you must agree to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

The cache is located streamside off a fisherman's trail between Big Pine Creek and Upper Sage campgrounds. Elevation is 7,637 feet. Do not attempt to cross the creek. There is easy access to the trail leading to this cache from either the low end of Big Pine Creek campground or from the upper end of Upper Sage campground. It is best to park in the lot near the Big Pine Creek campground entrance, cross the bridge then hike down.
Our immediate and extended families have camped and fished here many times during the past 35+ years. Please enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains, and the refreshing stream. Bring a fishing pole for stocked trout fishing. There are several trails, lakes and glaciers in the area. Our family continues to call the area "Glacier Lodge," although the second lodge burnt down several years ago at the Big Pine Creek campground, and all that remains is foundation rubble. The nearby general store sells large rootbeer floats for an extra treat.

The original cache contents have a fisherman/outdoors theme. PLEASE KEEP THE THEME WHEN EXCHANGING SWAG.

You are looking for a clear 1.7 liter Rubbermaid container (approx 6"x10"x2").

NOTE: Glacier Lodge Road may be closed during winter (approx. Nov-Apr)

Cache on!

Beautiful little hike to this cache! Johnnyringo2001 and I lost reception on our bberries and were unable to look up the hint! We'll have to go back and look for this one! :-)

I could not find this one, nanabanana76 and looked damn near everywhere! I didn't have cell service so I couldn't look at the hint. I will have to try next time.

7:35 pm
I walked over from campsite #2 at the upper end of Big Pine Creek Campground where my tent was pitched the past two days. I had hiked to Willow Lake earlier today where I encountered thunderstorms and showers all along the crest that motivated me to turnaround and skip a planned visit to the base of Middle Palisade Glacier. After a nice shower and dinner, I strolled down through camp to reach the trail access point. On the way through camp, I watched a pair of Red Squirrels hilariously wrestling with giant Jeffrey Pine cones after causing a couple of cones to fall on the roof of the car parked in Campsite #3. Ouch! Not surprisingly, I had the trail to myself at this late hour. Left a collared lizard. Took one of two Off insecticide packets. Thanks for the hide.
