Yes, you could hypothetically
figure out the date even without the research. Yes, I know there
are very few that can add up to the 23. So you have a one in five
chance of actually getting it right, assuming that you're staying
in the 20th century, which may not even be a safe bet in and by
itself...
But then think about this. You
would now be looking for a well hidden mini-micro with coordinates
that are off, say, just enough, that NOT having the hint? Hmm...
