Located in Big Cottonwood Canyon at 7667 feet it is a short
distance from a well established trail with a gradual incline. It's
roughly 3/4 of a mile from the parking lot to the cache site, 1/2
mile as the crow flies.
The cache is in an ammo can with geocaching labels and the website
address taped on the outside. At the time in was placed it
contained a small pocket-knife, a waterproof cylinder of matches, a
pocketwatch in a leather pouch, a BYU ball-cap, a handheld
electronic football game, a Rusty's Offroad bumper sticker, a
ceramic dog, 2 ceramic squirrels, a bottle of perfume, a myrtlewood
container of perfume,a 338 Winchester magnum shell casing, and a
small plaque, as well as a waitress's order pad which serves as the
log book. A nearby cache is the "Meeting of the Glaciers" which
shares the same starting point so here's your chance to score two
sites in a short time. If you go in the late afternoon or evening
your likely to see deer as my four year old son and I did.
Enjoy!(p.s. this trail is closed to mountain bikers on odd numbered
days if I recall correctly. A sign is posted in the parking area
but I doubt the rules are always obeyed!)Also, this cache is in
hilly terrain so good sattelite signals are sometimes hard to get.
So don't give up too soon, just expand your search and use the
hint! Happy caching!

September 12, 2009 by Crazydcrane (23 found) I had been to quite a few caches with friends (before taking it up myself) and this is (by far) the oldest cache that I have ever been to. I just 'looked up' the oldest 'active' cache (GC15; Salem, Oregon) so you were not that far behind, considering the millions of caches that are out there now. I took a pog that was left by Darkfrost (last year) and left some REALLY nice baseball cards, (3): Mariano Rivera/New York Yankees and Chris Lambert to name two.

September 5, 2009 by KingMan (405 found) My wife and daughters stayed up on the main trail while my son and I dropped off the edge and searched for this one. It started to get stormy so we cut our search short. I will have to come back and try again.[This entry was edited by KingMan on Monday, September 07, 2009 at 8:44:59 PM.]

July 22, 2009 by katsbear (518 found) Nice day for an after work hike. Found 4 caches on the way to Dog Lake, including this one. Getting to this one was a challenge, but its worth the extra effort. TFTC
