This cache is intended to highlight the Huckleberry Knob area of the Nantahala Forest. At an elevation of 5560 feet, it is the highest point in the Cheoah district. You can access this mountain from the Cherohala Skyway, which runs between Robbinsville NC and Tellico Plains TN. The cache is hidden on a nearby bald, but you will have to cross Huckleberry Knob to get to it. On your hike in , you will probably see the gravesite of Andy Sherman, who met his maker near this mtn. Stop by and read the interesting plaque. This is a easy hike as far as elevation change is concerned, but you had better be comfortable with the idea of serious bushwhacking,,at least in the summer months. It is a standard ammo box. I'm not going to supply additional hints, mainly because the reception is very good on top of these mtns. and there really aren't that many hiding places. Check out nearby Hooper Bald cache , while in the area. Have fun and good luck.
