Located only 200 yards off Highway 215, they are one of the area's best kept secrets. But plan your trip for a time when you think the falls will actually be running. During the "wet season" of late fall to early summer a good rain really gets the falls going. June through October it usually takes a big rain for them to run much, and then not for long. The pictures we posted were taken after a big rain in June.
The best parking is at the High Bank canoe access point on the Mulberry River, N35 40.778 W093 41.332 The drive there is one of our favorites, featuring bluffs on the north side of the highway, and the Mulberry on the south side. After you've parked, walk up to the highway and turn right to head towards the culvert downstream from the falls at N35 40.727 W093.41.245. The easiest walk is to stay to the left of the little creek for as long as you can. You will eventually have to scramble up the creek bed - be careful - this can get a bit slippery and the terrain is rocky to say the least.
The cache is an ammo can filled with assorted goodies for both the kiddies and the big kids.
