Please replace the cache container EXACTLY as found. The container has disappeared twice in a little over a year, and I plan to archive the cache if the container disappears again. Thanks for your help in keeping this cache alive.
This spot by the river is a common place for both hikers heading out into the Pemi Wilderness and families heading to Franconia Falls to stop. They can sit on a rock in the river, wade in the river when the water is low, and check out a view of Bondcliff, a mountain in the Pemi. A piece of local history is also nearby; a small piece of rail left over from J. E. Henry’s Lincoln logging operation is still in place.
Park at the Lincoln Woods parking lot, 5 miles east of Lincoln on the Kancamagus Highway (fee required). Walk to the ranger cabin and take the stairs down on your left. Bear left, and then cross over the large suspension bridge. Enjoy the river view while crossing and then turn right on the Lincoln Woods Trail, which is nearly flat as it follows the wide old logging railroad grade. The cache is approximately 1.7 miles in. Other caches are also available at Lincoln Woods. East Side Trail (GC41E9R) is on the other side of the river near the beginning of the trail. #Birch Box (GC5C27H) and Wedgie (GC5C288) are short distances in on the Lincoln Woods Trail. On the Osseo (GC5CQ8F) can be found on the nearby Osseo Trail, while Lincoln Woods Family Fun (GC1F2JM) is at Franconia Falls.
Since this is a popular resting stop, stealth may be required, especially in the summer.
