FLASH IF YOU CACHE!
A Worldwide Flash Mob Event
This event is being held as part of the Worldwide Flash Mob Event
sponsored by Podcacher. A flash mob is a large group of people who
gather in a predetermined location, perform some brief action, and
then quickly disperse. The entire event last 15 minutes.
This event is open to geocachers, their families and friends. The
event location is accessible to all and is in a very public place.
The larger the turnout, the better. The looks on muggles faces
should be fun to watch!
Each person is asked to bring a flash light and an ink pen. Please
park in a nearby parking lot AWAY from the event coordinates.
The event will begin precisely at 9:00 PM EST on Saturday, May 10,
2008 and will last exactly 15 minutes. To claim this event you must
be present and sign the log sheet DURING the sign-in process. For
that reason, we strongly suggest you arrive up to 15 minutes in
advance.
Official Event Itinerary
8:45 - 8:58 pm - Use this time frame as your
arrival to the area but DO NOT GATHER and stay away from the ground
zero coordinates . Nonchalantly stroll around looking casual. Look
like a muggle. Don't look like a gathering waiting to happen. Blend
in to the area as realistically as you can. This is part of the
fun. We will seem to appear out of no-where.
8:59 pm - Daggy and WCNUT will walk to event
coordinates.
9:00 pm - At precisely 9:00 (GPS time) turn on your
flashlight and continue to stroll around.
9:03 - 9:04 pm - At precisely 9:03 (GPS time) FREEZE and
hold your pose for one full minute. A whistle will blow one time
when time is up.
9:05 - 9:10 pm - Quickly make your way to the event
coordinates and line up to get a log-in sheet. Please pick up one
card per person. These cards will serve as the log book, drawing
entry forms and the official head count for the event. Place your
log sheet in the designated collection bin and grab a snack. Line
up for a picture directly behind the collection bin (shorties in
the front/giants in the back).
9:11 - 9:13 pm - Group photo.
9:14 pm - Drawing for door prize.
9:15 pm - Everyone should leave the area immediately.
Please take different routes. Do not group together. Do not stay in
the area. This should make the muggles wonder what in the heck just
happened.
If muggles are curious about the event we will have a handout that
explains geocaching. Just direct them to Daggy or WCNUT.
The event coordinators will be having dessert at 9:30 at the
nearby pie kitchen. This is not part of the event, but everyone is
welcome to join us.
