Don't Look Down! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

BaylorGrad: It's with a good deal of sadness that I archive my first cache. This cache will always be a special one to me. It took some creativity and some bravery. And when I went to check on it this afternoon, not only was the cache gone, but the trunk of the tree and its lowest limb (necessary for climbing) were covered in ants--not the type of tree I like to climb... Nor do I want anyone else getting eaten alive by the critters either.

Thank you to everyone who searched for this cache and found it as I intended. I hope you had fun, and I hope to provide at least one more tree-climbing opportunity before my time here in Terre Haute runs out in May.

Geocache Description:

BaylorGrad's first cache! This cache is located in Fairbanks Park, and the container is a small mint container (not an Altoids tin, but about that size, give or take). The cache is camo'ed, although amusingly enough, the least camo'ed part of the cache is the part most visible from the ground. BE CAREFUL--use safety equipment, and good luck!

Cache Rules / Guidelines:

1) BE CAREFUL: CACHE AT YOUR OWN RISK. I used a harness and ropes to set this cache. Don't take any chances and don't be foolish. The terrain rating is a 4.5 for a reason--obtaining the cache does not technically require special safety equipment, but it would be unwise and dangerous not to use ropes and a harness.

2) Do NOT remove the cache from GZ! The cache is to remain tethered at its current location! Simply open the cache, remove the log, sign it, place it back in the cache, and seal the cache.

3) The cache is not immediately visible when you reach GZ, but depending on the amount of leaves on the tree, you may be able to see it from the ground. After you fulfill the terrain requirement, the cache will be a very easy find. If you haven't found it yet, keep going.

4) No night caching--the park is closed at night, and this would be dangerous anyway.

5) Please do not attempt this cache during inclement weather. This includes: ice, snow, rain, strong winds, and extreme cold. Please, use your best judgment; if the weather is bad, come back another day.

6) Logging the Cache: Here's how I feel about this--if you feel like you fulfilled the 4.5 terrain rating, then sign the log and earn your smilie. If you did not fulfill the 4.5 terrain rating (I.E. you were present when someone else made the find), then you did NOT earn the cache. But--if you insist on logging the cache without earning it, that's not my loss, and I won't lose any sleep over it. Remember, not all caches are meant to be found by everyone.

7) Muggles: Yes, they will probably be a concern, especially in the winter when you are particularly visible when en route to the cache. Also, the 2-star difficulty is almost entirely due to muggle presence.

8) FTF Prize: Bragging rights, and a blank log (not printed, but made by me!).

9) If you cache alone, be aware that the first step towards obtaining this cache requires that you lift your own body weight (from the ground to a pretty decent height).

BE SAFE, HAVE FUN, & ENJOY!
