Geocache Description:

This is an easy to access cache, located in a pocket park in downtown Eagle River, with nearby parking and little walking.

This cache replaces Chief Alex, which was muggled, and Chief Alex II, which had to be archived because its hidey spot had been altered.

This is a camouflaged micro with room for a log only. You will need to bring a pencil with you.

The park is adjacent to an elementary school, so parking is nearby and plentiful.

There are picnic tables and benches, so bring a lunch and enjoy the area. Take a moment to look at the flowers and appreciate the volunteers who care for them. Check out the community town clock and the commemorative brick garden.

We tried to learn more about this park and were able to learn very little. It was first built in 1983 and has evolved throughout the years. We suspect it was named for Mike Alex, the last traditional village chief of Knick Arm Tanaina at Eklutna, but were unable to confirm this. If any cachers know any details, we welcome info added to the logs.
