Join us on Saturday April 28 to meet your fellow Geocachers and
to explore the Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park!
Time: 1:00 - dusk
Exact place of meeting, near the Ironworks Museum
Food:
Thanks to everyone who brought food, especially Rickles for being
the grillmaster!!!
We will have limited tables and chairs, so please bring your own
camp chair if you have one.
The main reason for this event is to meet, greet, and discuss
geocaching. This is your opportunity to put faces with names
that you've seen in logbooks or online.
In addition, there are currently 6 caches in the park:
Bookmark of Tannehill caches. For those who haven't found these
caches or who are new to geocaching, we will be splitting up into
groups and tackling these caches (and maybe more that will be
published before the event). The caches in this park offer
something for everyone. This will be a good opportunity for new
cachers to learn our sport since there is a wide range of caches,
from easy hikes to difficult climbs. So bring that friend that has
been thinking about caching! If there is enough interest, we will
offer a Geocaching 101 class.
Note: The park charges $3 for ages 12-61, $2 for ages 62 and
older, and $1 for ages 6-11. Under 5 are free.
If you would like to visit the Iron and Steel Museum while you
are there, admission is an additional $2 per adult and $1 per child
but is NOT required. Jim Bennett will be on hand to give Geocachers
a tour of the museum and a tour of the old blast furnace for those
of you who would like to know more about this Civil War era
park.
