05-05-05 @ 05:05:05 Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

FlightsOfFancy: Wow....we certainly were overwhelmed (and happy) to see that there were that many crazy cachers who braved the darkness to come out for this event! It was a perfect start to a great day! We were so glad to see so many of our old friends, and to finally meet some new ones! It was great blend of Southern Jersey cachers, Northern Jersey cachers, and SEPAG'ers.

We are already getting excited to plan out next years event...see y'all in one year, one month, one day, one hour, one minute, and one second! Ha ha!

Geocache Description:

05-05-05 @ 05:05:05

It's All About The Fives!!

We have a fascination with unusual dates. We were supposed to get married on 02-02-02, but with the events of 09-11-01 (and being a military family) we had to speed things up a bit and were not able to take the plunge on that special date. When we saw 05-05-05 approaching we decided something special should be done on this date as well and this time we are inviting all of you to join us for a geocacher greet, meet, and eat! And, if it's all about the fives, then it has to take place at 05:05:05 in the morning!! This event will really separate the die-hards from the wimps, the sane from the crazies, the normal from the obsessed!! We have even given it a "5" difficulty for those who have a hard time getting up that early! Come on, don't be shy, this will be a great before-work cache or for those adventurous types, try these for an after event cache-a-thon!!

We are always on the lookout for creative cache containers and creative hide ideas. In that vein, a contest ensues...

  • Most Creative Geocache Container. Put your noggin to work and get creative. Bring your coolest geocache. The only rule is this has to be a useable geocache, and we should all expect to see it placed soon after the event! The winner will be decided by YOUR VOTES shortly after 05:05:05.
  • To claim this cache you will need to make your way to the above coordinates by 05:00 (that's bright and early in the morning!) on 05-05-05. This will ensure that we can all be together to celebrate 05:05:05 and sign the logbook. We hope you will stay for breakfast!

“Bug Exchanges” are always welcome. If you are bringing travel bugs to trade, please have their Bug Page printed and included, so their goal will not be a mystery.

If you plan on attending, please include in your posting how many will be in your group so we can let the restaurant know how many crazy cachers to expect. Be sure to watch this page for updates, changes, and/or announcements.

    UPDATE 27Apr05

Due to the overwhelming estimate of attendance (which is GREAT!), and the early time, we have arranged with Denny’s to offer a limited menu for our breakfast event on 05-05-05. We talked with Rick (the AM manager) and have agreed to limit the breakfast to one of the following three general entrees:

    1) French Toast Slam (comes with eggs, bacon, and sausage) for $5.99
    2) Grand Slam Breakfast (comes with eggs, bacon, and sausage) for $3.79
    3) 2 Egg Breakfast (with hash browns, toast, and meat) for $5.69

Please try to limit your selections to the above menu because the restaurant normally only runs on a skeleton crew at that early hour and they are doing their best to find some extra help for that morning. Hopefully we won’t overburden them TOO much!

Apparently they are unfamiliar with rabid Geocachers who will want food before going out to cache for the day! Thanks for the help in this matter, and we hope it doesn’t inconvenience anyone in any way!
