Geocache Description:

Although this cache is located somewhere within the Moncton city limits. Please read the instructions carefully to claim your find. You need to complete a set of tasks before grabbing the find for this cache.

As us Canadians cannot as of yet officially go benchmark hunting, there's no reason we cannot make use of these to cache!

In order to log this cache as a find you need to do the following:

a) Select (click) an area (usually close to where you live) on the map below in Moncton and find 4 of the listed benchmarks.
PLEASE NOTE: Just because the map says there's a benchmark there, does not mean it's still around, since the time that map was made, it could have been destroyed. With this in mind, you actually need to FIND 4 benchmarks from the Moncton map below.
Tech Issue: Some browsers will resize the graphic which opens, if this happens if you leave your mouse over the graphic long enough it should allow you to make the graphic full sized, you you can just download the graphic to your harddrive.
b) Take a picture of the benchmark w/ your GPS in it, making sure the number on the benchmark is ledgible.
c) At this time go to the final location and log your find at the actual cache.
d) Once back home, post the 4 pictures of the benchmarks in your found logs and make sure to indicate which benchmark number you found (and which were missing if the case may be) Also, when you open the maps, you'll notice I've named each map a different "Zone" Please make mention of which zone each benchmark you found (or did not find is in - this makes it easier for me to track down and cross them off the list) If you fail to follow the directions for this cache, I will delete your find. Sorry, but rules are rules.

Other Rules:
1) You cannot find a benchmark which has been found by someone else. As benchmarks are found, I will black them out on the maps. For this reason it's important to report any benchmarks you DO NOT find, so I can remove them as well if they are missing in action or destroyed.
2) You may log this cache more then once, but only a total of 2 times... and obviously with different benchmarks. (You need to leave some benchmarks for the others... granted there are plenty to go around.. but still.)
3) You may only use benchmarks from THIS MAP. No other benchmarks will be allowed.

To get the coords for a given benchmark, please follow the following directions:
1) Go to this URL: https://www.pxw1.snb.ca/webnbcontrol/snbe/monNumbers.asp
2) Type in the number of the benchmarks you are looking for and click on "Search". (Note: If you are looking for a benchmark with the letters "RP" at the end, remove the letters, they stand for "Re-Plug" and are not needed to search)
3) The page which opens up will give you a list of the benchmarks you are looking for. Click on the check boxes on the left hand side next to each benchmark record and once selected, click on "get records"
4) This final page will give you the details for the selected benchmarks. Here you'll find the coords for each benchmark and even an option to open a PDF file with a sketch of each benchmarks location and orientation to other objects. This PDF will also identify the type of plug (benchmark) you are looking for.
NOTE: the coords listed are in DD MM SS.SSS format... NOT the geocaching standard DD MM.MMM format. When you enter the coords into your GPS, switch the format over or you'll be looking in the wrong spot.
