Geocache Description:

A stream cascading down rocks and a nice area to explore.

This spot near Lachlan is listed in Jan Hardy and Bert Elson’s “More Family Walks Around Hobart”, and being dog-friendly I saved my first visit (nearly 20 years ago now) for a day when the fluffy puppy could enjoy it too! And she definitely gave it her paws-up!!! It doesn’t have any public facilities but there is always evidence of a campfire. To get there drive towards New Norfolk and just before the town, turn left to Lachlan. After driving 9km, (through Lachlan and over a narrow bridge), take the RIGHT hand fork (at the junction of Lachlan Road and Hydehurst Rd) and go another 1.8km on the gravel road. A road turns off there to the left (Timbs Rd, not sure if there is a sign) and there is now a small creamy yellow cottage there. Turn left, cross the bridge and park there if you have vehicle that you don't want to risk clearance - then set off and walk. Otherwise, drive the 900m up to the small parking area. I have driven up before but it is narrow and there are rocks and ruts in the road to dodge and the bushes grow close, (and my heart was in my mouth a bit)! So it probably depends on your vehicle and if you are willing to drive it in that sort of situation. I park at the bottom now. From the high clearance parking spot continue walking up the road which is parallel to the river and you will reach the section with the cascades and rapids. There is a short side track back downriver too. The river can (usually) be forded carefully here to find the cache. After times of heavy rain/snow the flow can be high enough to be offputting. The cache is a small container with stashnote, logbook and pen. If possible, I would recommend continuing the walk to find the cache "Falls at Black Glen" (GC1B61W).
