This cache is on the ancient Forest boundary of the 1240 Perambulation, has been placed as a waymark between Ruelake Pit and Wotesbrokelakesfote. More details about the Perambulation can be found on the cache page for the Dartmoor Forest Bonus. On the front page of the logbook is an adjustment to be made to the Bonus co-ordinates, which you will need to find the Bonus.
To get here from Ruelake, the easiest route is to follow the track towards Scorhill, then cut across at the shortest point to the tor. It may not be on the boundary exactly, but you’ll save yourself some scratched legs and wet feet.
If doing this cache as a standalone, the closest parking is at Scorhill Farm (waypoint below). From here head up to the moor then skirt west of Buttern Hill on a well-trodden track that winds towards Ruelake. When near to Rippator you will need to do a bit of bush whacking to cut across to the tor itself.
If doing the Perambulation as a route, the next point on is Wotesbrokelakesfote. If you are a purist, you can head straight across to there across rough country and mire, secure in the knowledge that you are following the Duchy’s version of the historical boundary. However, you will be far better off cutting back to the track connecting Scorhill to Ruelake, then following that back to Buttern Hill, where you veer right downhill to Scorhill Stone Circle.
