**IMPORTANT NOTE!!!** 5:12pm 2/26/03
**We made a change to step 6, we had mistyped the
coordinates! They're correct now, we're sorry!!!***
Here's the story:
The geocaching.com user Mallrat46&2 is Kikipopo's little brother, and he just got himself his very own GPS device today, 2/25/03, which has liberated him from depending on friends with the devices to go caching with him. Well, now that he's in control, he needs a challenge. <evil grin>
We told him we were going to place a cache within a mile and a half from his house, and that he had 72 hours from the cache going public on the website to find it. If he finds it within the 72 hours, he gets a small monetary reward from big brother. To make it just a little more interesting, I offered him TRIPLE the amount of money if he's the first one to find it! You know what this means, people... Give him a challenge!! Don't let him be first, or we'll be in the poor house! <grin>
As a little touch of motivation, I've also stuck a $5 bill in the cache as a reward for the FTF. And if little brother gets it first, he gets that PLUS what I'd already promised him for a FTF bonus. Lucky kid, eh?
Here are the instructions for this cache:
Step 1) There are two coordinates that make up the ending points of a straight line.
N37°17.645 W121°57.661 and
N37°17.661 W121°57.661.
Along this line, there is a green object with white lettering.
The number of A's on the green object = F
F² = G
The total number of letters on the green object + S = X
(S will be determined later.)
Step 2) N37°17.643 W121°57.G83
Using these coordinates, you should be in the parking lot of an official building with a 5-digit number largely displayed next to a city name and a state name.
That 5-digit number = HIJKL
H + K - I + L - I + J = M
Step 3) N37°17.638 W121°57.M45
There is a large blue sign here with words and a graphic.
The number of celestial bodies shown on the sign = N
N - S = V
Step 4) N37°17.643 W121°57.NN6
There is a very small (1-2 inches) plastic animal hidden somewhere at these coordinates. Please leave the animal in the exact spot it's at hidden in the same way so that it doesn't get spotted by a geomuggle, as it was placed here by us specifically for this cache.
The number of letters in the simple name of this type of animal = Z
The number of vowels in that same simple name = U
Step 5) N37°17.685 W 121°57.584
From this spot, you should be able to see two white signs with red lettering, one sign directly on top of another. The sign on top has some black lettering across the bottom with a 5-digit number.
That 5-digit number in black at the bottom = ABCTY
A + B = P
Step 6) N37°17.664 W121°57.TP0
There is a payphone here with the 3-digit street address of it's location printed on it.
The street number = QRS
Q + R + S = W
The actual cache (final location)
The resting spot of this micro is at
N37°17.ZYX W121°57.WVU
