Geocache Description:

In the early morning hours of Aug. 12, 1978, in the far reaches of northern Maine, three adventurous pilots (Maxie Anderson, Ben Abruzzo and Larry Newman) set out to do what no one else in history had ever been able to accomplish - fly across the Atlantic Ocean in a balloon. They launched the Double Eagle II from Presque Isle and flew into aviation history, landing at Miserey, France, on August 17 (a total of 137 hours andsix minutes later), successfully completing their historic voyage.
