Geocache Description:

Thanks to J, the junior member of Team Taskmaster, for writing such a creative (and inspiring) story. I especially like it because I'm featured! This is my first mystery cache offering so now I get to say "the cache is not located at the posted coordinates".

Cache in the Mississippi River

About 2:30pm last week, Dan-oh hid a cache in the Mississippi River. Team Taskmaster had been cruising around the same time when Flagman shouted, “There you are!” We were shocked. “I heard,” he said in a kind of secretive tone, “that according to TucsonThompsen, Dan-oh has hidden a cache in the Mississippi River.” “We are in so much luck,” I whispered to my brothers.

“It’s a first-to-find cache, so let’s hurry!” Flagman exclaimed. In a song that my little brother likes, he told Flagman to take the road ahead that goes downward and we took the higher road. “You take the low road, I take the high road, I’ll get to Scotland before ye’,” he sang out as loud as possible. “Most likely, ‘I’ll get to the cache before ye’ right?,” I asked him. He didn’t answer.

Hours passed, and we still weren’t very close. According to the GPSr, we were nearly 17mi. away from the Mississippi River. “Oh my gosh,” I gasped, “We’ll never make it in one day just on foot!” Then out of luck, the ‘King of the Taskmasters’, spotted a yellow vehicle. As it drew nearer, we noticed it was a cab. “Taxi, taxi!” he shouted while flailing his arms rapidly to try and flag him down. Then it drove up on the curb and we jumped in.

We told him where we were to be driven, and he drove use pretty close. “Thank you very much, sir,” we all said politely. “Let’s see here,” my older brother mumbled, “2 1/2 mi. away from the river.” We followed him until my brothers and I were tired of walking. “Want to race?” I asked them. “Sure. Why not?”

On the countdown by my mom, we raced and raced until we saw something strange, a puddle. We kept running until ‘SPLASH!’ My brothers jumped into wide, gently flowing muddy waters. “The river!” I exclaimed. “The GPSr says that we are 15 ft away from the cache!”

As my brothers and I took a swim and got very dirty, I bumped into something hard that felt like plastic. I picked it up not knowing that I was to come upon a plastic fish. Well, it wasn’t any fish. It was the cache. I told my mom, and she opened its mouth. Sure enough there was a log, some fishing line, a lure, and a bunch of stuff that goes with the ‘fish’ theme. I put it back and watched it swim in circles. “Whoa! What a neat cache, Dan-oh,” I whispered to my self.
