Aqueduto das Águas das Cavadas Traditional Geocache

O local:

   O Aqueduto das Águas das Cavadas fez, em tempos, parte de um sistema de moagem (azenha ou moínho de água). A sua fundação é desconhecida pois sofreu grandes restauros em meados de 1920-30. Contudo os encontrados vestígios de reboco romano (opus signinum) e a já conhecida forte presença romana nas proximidades indicam que este moínho em forma de cone invertido tenha de facto origens romanas.

    O local é agradável e acolhedor, pois fica num vale fresco e sombreado, por onde passa a ribeira das Cavadas. É ainda possível merendar numa pequena mesa com bancos que lá se encontra para o efeito. Existe também um balde do lixo, por isso lembre-se: "Cache in trash out"! Fica ainda o alerta para o facto de  poder haver gado a pastar nas proximidades, por favor deixe sempre as cancelas fechadas.


A cache:

   O container é um tupperware de pequenas dimensões e está escondido num local bastante óbvio, pelo que não necessita de buscas complicadas. Por favor não toque nas paredes porque o estuque é muito antigo e, consequentemente, frágil. Este é um local histórico por isso evite a todo o custo contribuir para a sua deterioração. Preserve o nosso património!

Como chegar:

    Existem 3 diferentes acessos ao local, mas para facilitar as coisas vou colocar apenas um: Sair da estrada principal em P1 e após cerca de 250 m em terra batida, poderá estacionar em P2.

About the place:

   The Aquedut of Cavadas was once part of a milling system (water mill). Its establishment is unknown due to severe restorations around 1920s-30s. However the found traces of roman plaster (opus signinum) and the known roman presence in the vicinities suggest that the origins of this inverted conical shaped mill are in fact roman.

    The location is nice and cozy as it is placed in a fresh and shaded valley, where the Cavadas riverside flows. It is possible to picnic on an existing small table with benches. There's also a trashcan, so remember: "Cache in trash out"! There might be some cattle around so please keep in mind that you should always close the gates you may find.
 

The cache:

    The container is a small tupperware and it's hidden on a obvious spot, so you don't need to complicate the search. The plaster on the walls it's quite old and fragile so please do not touch it.  This is a historical place, we must avoid its destruction. Preserve our heritage!


How to get there:

    You can exit the main road on P1 and after aproximately 250 m on dirt you can park on P2.
