This cache is hidden at the end of Erdman Road, within feet of the Grand River. I'm not aware of another road in the area that puts you this close to the river, and thought it was a pretty spot. As I was scouting for a possible hiding spot for the cache, I noticed an awfully big snake sunning itself:

Yikes! Based on a quick browse of the DNR website, it looks like that is a Black Rat Snake, which, despite its size (Michigan's largest species), is non-venomous and considered harmless to humans. Still, I'm a bit of a wimp about anything larger than a garter snake, so needless to say, you can rule that spot out for possible hiding places for the cache!
