Geocache Description:

Park & grab with a view

Every time I pass this structure, I say to myself, "Wow, this would be a great place for a cache."

And now there is a cache there.

There are some nice views here.

The first view is the mountain with the radio tower above, just to the South.

The second view is the structure itself, and is quite interesting, especially when they light it up at night.

The third view is the Ballona Creek right below, which has a bike path entrance on the other side. (The cache is not on the bike path)

I am including a picture of the structure, and if you like, you can add a pic, too, to make things interesting.

Good luck, and enjoy this spot!

Don Merkt's sculpture, Crossed Currents, pays homage to Ballona Creek and its importance to the native inhabitants (Gabrielino/Tongva) of the region. The creek provided fresh water and served as a conduit for ocean breezes. Wind and water are realized as themes in this artwork on several levels: the single water droplet spilling over the lip of the jug into the creek and the wind moving the water bubbles suspended inside the jug. Crossed Currents was a winning entry in the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California's Liquid Art contest.
(Thanks goes out to BenH57 for finding this information)

The sculpture is made of stainless steel and steel mesh, and measures 28' high.
