This cache is located within Catalina State Park, along the Sutherland Trail. The hike is moderately difficult, approximately 2.5 miles in length one way with a 600 ft. elevation gain. The trail is well marked and may require some seasonal stream crossings? Sutherland Trail meanders leaving the Park boundary, entering the Pusch Ridge Wilderness Area, then reentering the State Park near where the cache is located.
There is a $6 Entrance Fee/Vehicle, without an Annual Pass. Please obtain free Park Information and Trail Guides at the Ranger Station, then proceed to the main Trailhead(s) parking area. Hope you have an enjoyable hike and a successful search! Hike will take approx. 3 Hours. Please make sure you carry an ample supply of drinking water! Enjoy the views, this is also a great spot for lunch!
PS. Please follow all Trail Etiquette as outlined on the Trail Guide sheet! There are several other caches within the park.
The trail is multi-use for Hikers, Mountain Bikers, Horses and Leashed Dogs . I believe there are Horse/Bike bypasses around the 2-staircase climbs that are located relatively early in the hike. (Bikers please let me know if you are able to negotiate these successfully). Thanks!
