Geocache Description:

3-Stage Multi. Located in the Conecuh National Forest, near the North Loop of the Conecuh Trail. Each stage is in a custom designed container, 2 to 4 Inches in diameter.

WARNING this is prime snake country! WARNING Watch for Alligators near large bodies of water. WARNING There could be Hunters during Hunting Season! This is a three(3) part multi-cache, located near the North Loop of the Conecuh Trail. The Alabama Hiking Trails Society mentions the North Loop of the Trail and Mossy Pond at the following web page:Visit AHT! I visited the Conecuh National Forest Ranger's Station near Andalusia and talked to the Ranger about the Trail. The station has a number of very good pamphlets and maps if you plan to visit the area. The Ranger's office is south of Andalusia on Hwy 29 and open from 7:30 to 3:00 weekdays. There are a number of ways to get to the cache, Walk, Bike, or drive, depending on your choosing. There are a number of unimproved roads that traverse the area and several locations where you can enter the Conecuh National Forest to get to the cache. Take time while in the area to observe the wildlife. Parking where the North Loop of the Conecuh Trail crosses Hwy 137 and hiking the the trail will lead you on a nice 2.4 mile walk (5-mile round trip) to the cache. Motorized vehicles, horses or pack animals are not allowed on the trail; however you can ride a bicycle. If you take one of the roads to get closer to the cache, be warned that frequent rains can make travel a little slippery. There a numerous High Spots (drainage swales) that cross the dirt roads and could high center a car that is low to the ground. A pickup, SUV or similar vehicle is best. There is a pond in the area; however, there are no fish in the pond. The Alabama Department of Agriculture had all of the fish in the pond killed to protect a rare species of frog which lives in the pond. If you are in the area, check out the Fruit and Vegetable stand near County Road 14, they have best Boiled Peanuts, and when I was there in late July the watermelon was so sweet. If you see the Alligators in the pond please take a picture! We saw 3 of them (all less then 4 feet) but be careful Mom could be around. I understand from the locals that gators are known to travel from pond to pond for food and to find more water when the weather is dry.
