Global Gauntlet Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Seawind: This puzzle is a prime example of how things change. Several of the clues in Street View are no longer there since the last update, and there is no historical view in Street View.

Reluctantly letting this one go. The cache, though, is a permanent part of the tree that swallowed it!

Global Gauntlet

(World Traveler 3)

Update 10-2015:  The cache has been consumed by the tree it is hidden in!  It is still easy to find, but not accessible.  Rather than signing the log, please post a photo of the cache.

Google Earth is one of the greatest (and most fun!) tools of our time.  Here is another puzzle to enjoy using Google Earth.

Important:  After flying to each location, use your scroll wheel to zoom in to a fairly low altitude.  Then drag the "Pegman" directly over the center of the target.  See below for hints on using the software.

This puzzle is intended to be fun.  If you get stuck, or need a hint, don't hesitate to email me.

When I set about creating this puzzle, I thought it would be quick and easy.  Not!  It is incredibly hard to find the clues needed and in a variety of locations.  I spent several hours on quite a few of them.  I was determined to get one in Africa, but could never get it to quite work out.  Adding to the difficulty, a great many of the images, especially in the U.S. for some reason, are of very poor quality and just not readable.  It will be fascinating to see what the future holds for this technology!  Enjoy the puzzle!
