During the Paleozoic Era, sometimes referred to as the Age of Fishes, nearly 100 million years before the Atlantic Ocean began to split Europe from North America, and well before the age of the dinosaurs, aka the Mezozoic Era, little ocean creatures were living, multiplying and dying by the billions from Utah to Ohio and laying their tiny bodies down in the shallow ocean muds. The big floods of 1993 dredged out this area and exposed our Paleozoic pals for us to see and be impressed with.
