One of the many stone shelters in Harriman State Park.
Built: 1933
History: This shelter was built in 1933 and was originally called the Letterock Shelter, but in 1973 took on the name William Brien Memorial Shelter. (The original William Brien Shelter was built in 1957 near Island Pond, but was frequently vandalized and subsequently demolished.)
Directions to Trailhead: Seven Lakes Road to Silvermine Ski Area.
Directions to Shelter: From Silvermine Ski Area, follow Menomine (Yellow) Trail for 1.35 miles to intersection of the Appalachian (White) Trail/Ramapo-Dunderburg (Red) Trail with the Menomine Trail.

Cache is about 200 feet from shelter, along the AT. When I arrived on a Sunday morning, a group of Boy Scouts were utilizing the camp. Rehide well, as this shelter is frequently visited.
