This is the eastern extension of Land Between the Lakes' Central Hardwoods Scenic (formerly Greenway) Trail from the Golden Pond Visitor Center. This portion of the trail is compacted gravel which makes a smooth walking/biking path. Because the path also follows the contours of the terrain, its not as easy as the paved portion. But its not as hard as the other dirt trails throughout LBL.
From the GPVC, the trail continues for about 3.5 miles from the Golden Pond visitor center to reconnect with the paved portion of the Greenway Trail. To the west, the trail meanders through upland mixed hardwood forest on its way to Fenton campground, over 2.5 miles away. If you are game, you can take the North-South trail for an extended day-hike up to a multi-day backpacking trip.
Parking is available at the Golden Pond Visitor Center, the Golden Pond Trailhead Parking lot or the Meredith Trailhead.
From here you are 1/2 way to the paved section.
