Update 5/14/05: Man In The
Wild's CARdied today
around 4pm just before reaching 210,000 miles in a collision
near home. I (Man In The Wild) was thankfully the only person
in the car at the time. I now have a new appreciation for
seatbelts and air bags. After the accident I was hurting
enough that I didn't know if I could get out of the car when
some witnesses asked. After a short while I decided I was ok
enough to get out and as I walked around the car I saw the
damage at the front and commented "It did its job." I have
seen many reviews of the Stratus that made it sound like it
wasn't the safest or most reliable car, and I've had
mechanics tell me they normally don't last this long. This
car went much farther than any other car we owned previously,
was always a pleasure to drive (even when it was wearing out
I was amazed that it just kept moving.) Today I'm sure the
seat belt and air bag may have kept me from getting more
serious injuries (nothing broken--just bruises, strains,
etc.)
Thank you to such a wonderful car! We'll
miss you!

This cache celebrates our 1998 Dodge Stratus reaching the
100,000 mile mark March 3, 2002. The coordinates point to where the
car was when it hit 100,000 miles, not the cache itself. Near there
is a business card size magnet with the coordinates for the cache.
It should be close enough that if you look for a place where you'd
hide a small magnet I think you will find it easily. The cache has
mostly items for cars. Since this is a rest stop, we're leaving our
first travel bug, Comet Horse, here to rest before she starts her
journey. We hope to see other travel bugs here in the future. We
plan to leave at least three more travelers (one for each member of
our family.)
You can also log this cache as either an 'Other' or 'Found'
(whichever you like) if your car reaches the 100,000 mile mark (or
any 25,000 mile mark after that.) Please show the coordinates for
where you were when your car hit the mark and any interesting
stories or pictures you might have. You might even hide your own
cache at your 100,000 mile mark!
UPDATE 4/14/02: 100.000 km is fine as well as long as that's the
standard measurement in your country (no converting your odometer
from miles to km to get there sooner--we want real zeros!)
UPDATE 5/12/02: Comet Horse has started her travels, and we have
since placed Miss Cheetah in the cache. When she leaves the cache,
we'll put Queenfish in the cache. Eventually, Man In The Wild will
get his chance to travel.

UPDATE 4/12/05: The Stratus is still moving... almost 208,000
miles now. I replaced the magnet the other day. I'll be putting
magnets in the cache within the next few weeks.
Ok, on to the original 'goodies' included in the cache:

least.)

This mother goose is at N38°24.861 W081°49.877. You might get a
chance to see her eggs, but watch out for the protective father!

Update 5/3/02: The eggs have hatched! You can still find the
nest near those coordinates, and you might see the family swimming
nearby. Also, we spotted a crane fishing from the side of the lake
in the rain a few days later. (Ok, that was years ago, but there
are usually ducks and geese in that area.)
