Geocache Description:

Sundials in riverside village

Hurworth is a large village on the north bank of the River Tees. It has a large green , surrounded by many fine houses.

In the 19th Century, there were at least 120 linen weavers, but all traces of this industry have long gone, and the village is now mainly a home for commuters to Darlington and Teesside.

Several buildings carry sundials, believed to be the work of the noted mathematician William Emerson, or his assistant John Hunter.

The coordinates will lead you to one large sundial, there are two other large ones on the road on the north side of the green.

To log this cache, e-mail me with the writing on each one, and also the name or number of the building to which it is attached.( ignore any very small sundials or other plaques)
