Geocache Description:

Welcome to Williston Park! This is the 9th in my series of visiting the different towns and villages on Long Island. This cache is now a bison tube. It is an easy lunchtime park and grab. Parking can be found in the nearby lot.

Williston Park was founded in 1926 when 195 acres of land were purchased by New York City developer William Chatlos. Chatlos was seeking to create an affordable, planned community for New York City residents wishing to move to the suburbs. Later that year, residents of the village voted to break with the residents of East Williston and formally incorporate the village. Williston Park is named for Samuel Willis, a settler who came to the area in the late 17th century. The home of one of Willis's family members stood in the village until the 1950's. The village's current mayor is Ludwig A. Odierna. The Village Board is comprised of Ronald Saporita, Ann Marie Smith, Kevin Dunn, and newly appointed Board Member Crista Mills. All are members of the Representative Party.

This cache isn't too hard to find. But as with all my micros, be sure to bring a writing utensil. Please be sure to replace the cache exactly as found.
Enjoy your hunt!
