Geocache Description:

A small plastic box located at the FOUR CORNERS of Speculator NY, in the southern Adirondacks.

This is a quick cache to find. Located at the back of a nice mini park. The park is a nice resting place for a picnic or just to read a book. Just park in the lots in front of the Lane Emporium or Charles John Store. The parking lots located across from the mini Park. There are Washrooms and Information of the area in the Lane Emporium. During the winter, this cache is also along a snowmobile trail. No good for handicap, in the winter and early-mid-spring.
Historical fact: This part of Speculator was known as Newton's Corners during the late 1800s. The village was named after the post-man who delivered the mail there. In 1898 the village was changed to the name of Speculator, named after the mountain along the lake. They had to change the name, because the name Newton's Corners was already used many times at other places in New York State. Talk about a famous Post-man LOL.
