Meet us at Fat Boy's Texas BBQ in Bath, Pennsylvania from 5:00 to 7:00 pm (and later for you tired cache warriors) on Saturday, June 18, 2005, and help us celebrate the 1000th find for the area's longtime cachers, THE CACHING NUTS (formerly Team Jim and Linda, of course). They've been caching since Friday, April 05, 2002, so they've just celebrated their third anniversary caching. This is a no-host Texas-style event and dinner but we're supplying the dessert. There will be a few surprises for them and maybe even a few surprises for you! There will still be daylight after the event, so plan to cache a little at dusk. Post a note of your intentions and if you have any surprises you'd like to present to the Nuts, email me so I can put it on the agenda.
TBs--As always, travel bugs are welcome. I will be laminating cards for each of the TBs. When you bring your bugs to the event, please match up the laminated card with your bug. If you have special plans for your TB (a drawing, a trade, or raffle or something, please let me know at the event so I can schedule it in).
I will be bringing Barbie, The Party Girl TB of which you all may log. She is my version of the traveling geocache, since the ones that are out there now (i.e.: CCCooper Agency's) are grandfathered. The rules to Barbie is you must make a Barbie/party trade (not necessarily both) in order to sign her log book (sorta like an old fashioned dance card). Party hats, invitations, even cake are welcome. Whomever takes her must take her only to event caches.
Attendance--WOW!! Nothing like a couple o' Nuts to get a par-tay going! The estimates of attendees is DOUBLE what I planned and predicted. Fat Boy's has seating for roughly 45 which is what I so foolishly estimated. They won't have their picnic tables in time for tomorrow's event so they (and we) are suggesting folks to bring blankets and/or lawn chairs for yourselves and any extras. They have a very big back area! Please forgive me for this underestimation...
Raffles--I've decided to have a couple of raffles for Geocaching-related items. Tickets will be $0.25 each. Just tear off the entry portion of the coupon and place it in the tub related to the item you wish to win! If you wish to donate an item to raffle or if you have your own raffle, please let me know by 10:00 am the day of the event so that I can make the tub. The drawings will be at about 6:30.
New Caches--There are two new ones within 20 miles of the event which will be posted on gc.com the morning of the event. I will be bringing the coords with me for everyone.
Food: The owners of the restaurant are thrilled to have us. They have provisioned enough food for everyone but ask your forgiveness if they get behind serving, say 15-20 minutes. Please plan accordingly, especially if you're bringing children. This is a very casual joint, not the least bit fancy. A great place to go after/during a day of caching!
The Nuts--Reaching this milestone is fabulous. The Nuts have been doing this for a long time and love discussing their adventures. We will be presenting them with congratulations and a few surprises immediately after the raffles.
Last But Not Least--Thanks so much for attending. Event caches are unimoggers' favorite kind of cache, by far. We attend anything and everything within 50 miles and, within reason. We love meeting and chatting with fellow addicts of which there is no known cure. And we love a Par-TAY!!
