Leave the car at N 56° 35.399, W004° 00.118, a fair size car park
at the bottom of the hill. Walk up the forest track to the Black
Rock Viewpoint, you might want to stop here to get your breathe
back as the track is seriously steep to begin with.
Then carry on,keep going upwards until you reach the very top of
the hill, if you end up walking back down the other side, you have
gone too far. At the top of the hill, leave the track and follow
your GPS across country. There is no defined path from the top of
the hill to the Ice House, you'll need to find your own way.
It is approx. 6.5 miles round trip from car park to cache and
back again, the views just down from the cache site, over Loch Tay
are stunning and make it more than worthwhile. There is an
abundance of wild life in these hills.
This cache is not for the faint hearted. The forestry track
could be done on a bike, although it may need to be pushed the
first mile or so, once you leave the track at the top, you would
need to leave it secured to a tree near the path. Coming down would
be fun. Not suitable for buggies or wheelchairs.
