This cache is inspired by Shakespeare's comedy A Midsummer
Night's Dream. A synopsis of the play as well as the full
text can be found here. There have been many film and TV
adaptations of the play. The best known one was a film with Kevin Kline and Calista Flockhart.
I saw a great production of this play in London. However, it was
not in one of the theatres. It was performed by a touring troupe.
They had set up a huge tent much like a circus tent in Hyde Park
and were performing in there at night and in the middle of the
summer. It was a fun performance and very enjoyable with a unique
venue thrown in.
"The course of true love never did run
smooth."
(Act I, Scene I)
Like all my other Shakespeare caches, you do not have to read
the play to find the cache.
The Cache
When you think Midsummer Night's Dream, you think faeries
in the woods. You'll look for faeries in the woods when you do this
cache. They will show you the location of clues to the coordinates
of the location of the final. You may be able to spot some of these
faeries in the daylight, but it would be very challenging to find
most of them. These faeries are best hunted at dusk or night with a
flashlight.
As you walk down the trail, you'll be looking for eight clues
marked by faeries. You'll find them within 30' of the trail. These
faeries are hanging out between two and eight feet off the ground.
Located within a few feet of each faery is a copper tag that has
one part of the final coordinates. There is also a faery guarding
the final, but you will not see it from the trail. All these
faeries are hardy and are winter friendly.
At the beginning of the trail, there is a horse farm on the
right. There are no faeries on that side of the trail within sight
of the corrals or the barn, so you don't have to sweep your
flashlights up there.
Please Note
- The cache is an ammo can (my first!).
- The cache that just barely fits in its hiding
place. Please be considerate and take the time to replace it
exactly as you found it.
- There are no faeries any further than N 42 52.415 W 71
36.060.
- Not all faeries are alike.
