This spot is yet another great view. It looks west over the Sparta valley and Castle Park area.
The Sparta Glen Park is a spectacular jewel of a natural resource. The Township of Sparta is investing to bring it back to life after the historic floods of August 12, 2000 nearly wiped it out.
While these caches are designed to lead you along the trail system, at this point the trails are quite faint. The cache is not far off a trail but it is a challenge to follow it around. This is another great view spot. You should make sure to bring a camera when you visit.
The cache itself is a large ammo can. It is filled with the usual goodies.
The FTF Prize was a Hurricaine Katrina Geocoin (congratulations CacheHunter42). The proceeds from the purcahse of this coin supported the Red Cross Relief efforts.
Special second competition - For the three geocachers who post the best Fall picture between now and November 15, 2005, I will award a trackable geocoin (state to be determined). The picture must be either at this cache site, Morris Lake Overlook or Sparta's Best View.
Just a quick good caching reminder, although this park is right in the heart of Sparta it is rugged. New Jersey has many bears and poisonous snakes, I have seen both in this park. Know what to do if you have an encounter and it won't be a problem but a great and rare experience. If you are caching alone make sure someone knows where you are going as cell phones don't always work back here.
