Earth Day is offically April 22, 2008, but we are celebrating it with a CITO at BRODHEAD CREEK PARK on Saturday, April 19, 2008. The event will start at 10:00am and go until at least 12:00 noon. Brodhead Creek Park is located on Rt 191 just north of Stroudsburg.
We have been asked by the Stroud Region Open Space and Recreation Commission (SROSRC) to help them organize a CITO. They will be bringing a small group of people to help with the CITO. Afterward we need a few experienced geocachers to volunteer to help with a Geocaching 101 lesson. SROSRC will be hiding a multi-cache in the park and would like some help in showing interested people how a GPS works and how to find a cache.
SROSRC WILL BE PROVIDING GLOVES, TRASH BAGS AND BEVERAGES.
NOTE: SROSRC has requested that all geocachers who will be coming also register on the SROSRC website also. They need to show that they will be having volunteers for this event so they can receive enough gloves, trash bags, etc for the CITO. The website is: www.srosrc.org. Just go into "Programs", then "Special Saturdays", then "Earth Day: Cache-in, Trash Out". You'll have to register first, then click on the Earth Day CITO activity. Even though it says Shopping Cart, the event is FREE.
Also, the srosrc.org website incorrectly lists the location as Creekview Park. The event will be at Brodhead Creek Park as per the coordinates above. Hope to see everyone there.
