Geocache Description:

This cache is near the Muleshoe Ranch not far from a scenic 4WD road.

This cache is a large Ammo can big enough to hold a water bottle and a can of tennis balls (which hints at at least two of the items you'll find if you are first to this cache). The name comes from the fact that there is a particular type of plant which we didn't see anywhere in the area until we saw a big tall version out here in the middle of nowhere. It stands guard about 0.1 miles from the 4WD road, overlooking the steep rocky wall of Wildcat Canyon with the cache container hidden in the rocks above our Lone Ranger. Be sure to wear long pants for the scramble to this cache and be careful climbing in the rocks on the side of the hill.

To get to the cache location, head for the Muleshoe Ranch Nature Conservancy location (near Hookers Hot Spring on the slightly dated Topo maps) and continue on the Jackson Cabin road marked for 4WD vehicles. If conditions are as nice as we experienced, 4WD may not be necessary, though the ground clearance will come in handy. One annoying thing is that this 4WD road has been seeded with speedbumps at frequent intervals (used to divert water to keep the road from washing out), something I had never seen before on a 4WD road. Don't forget to enjoy the views of surrounding mountains & continuing for a few miles up the 4WD road past the cache location will reward the geocacher with wonderful scenery.
