Geocache Description:

This event in Germantown, TN, will show some techniques for hiding geocaches, will demonstrate some useful tools (other than a GPS unit), and will provide some tips for hunting caches.

The place to be at 10 am on Saturday, October 3rd, is Cameron Brown Park in Germantown, TN. Over a period of a couple hours we will have a fun course in Geocaching Techniques, Tools, and Tips! There will be something for everyone, from the newest cacher to the "old pro."

Experienced geocachers will show some techniques for hiding geocaches. This will include discussions of cache placement as well as showing a variety of camouflage techniques.

Tools useful in finding caches will be shown. Some are common and others are not.

Finally, we provide a variety of tips for hunting caches. This will cover a wide variety of subjects.

All participants will be encouraged to offer their ideas on every topic.

The staff of the Parks & Recreation Department of the City of Germantown has been very supportive of geocaching within the city. They are providing the use of the large pavilion in one of the larger city parks (i.e., Cameron Brown Park). There is ample parking in the park and there are several geocaches located here.

Cameron Brown is a 55-acre park located on Farmington Boulevard and it contains four lighted baseball/softball fields, one lighted high school regulation baseball field, one lighted combination football/soccer field, a batting cage, two lighted tennis courts, 1.5 miles of paved hiking trails, a large pavilion, a three-acre lake, two playgrounds, 32 picnic sites with tables, grills and trash receptacles, electronic scoreboards, concession buildings, restrooms and water fountains. The park opens at dawn and closes at 11pm daily.

If you plan to attend please indicate that on this web page so we will know exactly how many folks to expect. Thanks.
